The Old Man of Gugh

Escape to the peaceful Isles of Scilly, some 28 miles off Land's End for a relaxed, friendly and informal holiday.

You will explore, on foot, thousands of years of human presence on this intimate and ancient part of granite Britain. Scilly is renowned for its prehistoric and early Christian sites. There is also a fine range of Civil War and other fascinating features to explore.

St Agnes quay

Based on St Mary's, with excellent facilities, visits by short boat trips will be made to the other four very different inhabited islands, as well as deserted ones during the June holiday, weather and tides permitting. Birds, flowers and seals are an added attraction as are the beautiful coastlines and scenery. Participants on each holiday will enjoy a half day to spend as they wish.

Bed & Breakfast accommodation is in comfortably appointed establishments and only a few minutes walk from the quayside. Enjoy your evening meal at St Mary's pubs, restaurants or hotels, or take a boat trip to St Agnes for supper at the Turk's Head, weather permitting.

Your guide, Dr Tom Greeves, is an archaeologist, cultural environmentalist and historian. He is an authority on Dartmoor where his lecturing and guided walks are much in demand.

The package includes 7 nights bed & breakfast, packed lunches on full day excursions, all boat trips to the off-islands, and guided exploration and interpretation of the islands with the holiday guide.

(Please note that only a few single rooms are available. Once they have been filled, a single room supplement, regretfully, will have to be charged).
